Concerten

So, the stressing period has started here because of the concerts this weekend.

Yesterday, Nynke and I went to the airport to pick up Luie Hond. The dutch might know these guys. They are playing regae music and come most of them of the north of the NL. They are very relaxed and nice guys. Today sis had to get up at 5, to pick up Mike del Ferro (dutch as well) but he didn’t arrived at 7. So all for nothing. I went with the Luie Hond group to the slums and saw some dancing and acrobatics. Later we had another demonstration by dancers and acrobats at the center and we went for lunch. From now, all the days will be hectic and chaotic. Though, the concerts will start at saterday untill sunday. I will be there and have fun. Meanwhile I’m going around with some of the mucisians and do some work here. After the concerts, I have some time to study again and then it’s overl; wensday 6th of Juni I will go home to my lovely man and rainy Netherlands: how lovely ;-) .

Hi there everyone all over!

Last week I’v been going around in Kenya! After some partying in Nairobi with Nynke, I went to Masai Mara. This is a big national park in the south west of Kenya which is connected to the Serengeti in Tanzania. First, I was supposed to go with Nynke and this guide, Kyalo which Nynke got to know the Mt. Kenya, but since Nynke had to work on Monday, she had to go out of the Matatu (little bus) cause otherwise she wouldn’t make it on time to get in Nairobi. So, I went alone with Kyalo to Masai Mara. There, we slept in big tents. The surroundings are quite boring of flat land and only dry grass. But, I went the next day, after half a day of waiting and arranging a car to go in the park (without you can’t), in the park. There I’v seen:

Zebra’s            Jackal
Lions               warthogs
Giraffes            and many more
Buffelo’s
Impala’s

I took many pics but unfortunately, they got lost strangely on my camera. We were 5 meters away of the lions, which was quite dangerous since the car broke down every-time cause of overheating. Fortunately it didn’t broke down near the lions, though it did wen it was dark and we just saw a leopard. Anyways, the safari was nice and in the night we heard hyena’s and a leopard which was close to the campsite. The next day, we went to the little village to eat something and after I visited the school. All the children sang for me some songs, which was soooo cute! After I went back to the campsite to study something.

The next day, we left and I sad goodbye to Kyalo, which helped me a lot and I’m happy he showed me the lions. I went alone to Nakuru, which is a small city north of Kenya. There I arrived at around 4. I had a terrible night cause of the bar which was under my room. But the next morning I went to the Nakuru national park. This park has a lake which is pink due to all the flamingo’s! The sound them is amazingly relaxing. All over there were many Buffalo’s, zebra’s, birds, monkeys, and I saw some rhino’s: white and black! After 4 hours of driving through the park with the taxi, I decided to go back to Nairobi cause I got diarrhea and didn’t feel so well.  This was partly cause of the malaria pills and cause of I miss Maxi so much.

When I came back at Nairobi, I went straight in the city to meet Nynke, Natalie and Anita (a dutch and a Kenyan girl). We had dinner and after we went to the filmfestival for the celebration of the 50 years of existence of the EU. The movies were animations and quite vague. But some were really funny.

Now, I feel a lot better, but still missing Maxi. I’v time to do some studying, which is quite needed cause when I come back, I will not have time for that. Tomorrow I will go with Nynke and some guys to Naivasha. This is a national park as well but here you can bike and walk around, which is rare. By the way, Kenya is not as cheap as you would suspect: the fees for the park are amazingly high!

Untill now, I’m not able to put pics here, those I can put when I come back home.

Nairobi

hello there everybody,

I arrived in peaces at Nairobi yesterday after some horrible flights and waiting forever. At the airport my sister picked me up and we went to her apartment. It was a nice welcome to Africa cause in the way to the city, we just saw 5 meters from the road some giraffe! That’s sooo weird.

Her apartment is great and nice. We first had some lovely sirop waffels which Wendy brought for Nynke and we talked. After I went for a sleep cause I was exhausted. Than, at around 7 we had dinner and after we went to a club/bar. Which was nice, but you could easily see that I was ‘fresh” in Kenya! We met a dutch/kenyan/british guy who first said I was sexy and all, and tried to seduce me, but then he found out the horrible truth that I was taken already. After he tried to seduce my sister, cause, well: you need something hahahahah ;P

There was this other guy who started like this: I have 2 questions: what’s your name, and do you have a boyfriend! So that’s obvious hahahah :P

Anyways, at 00:30 we went to bed to wake up again at 8. I went with the roommate of sister to the office of Sarakasi! This is a NGO which arranges performances for acrobats and dancers from very poor neighbourhoods and gheto’s. I did some power yoga and now I’m watching dancers and the acrobats! It’s really cool to see them! Amazing what they can do. The strange thing is: they sweat like hell, but don’t eat and drink: which for me is almost impossible cause you need to drink when you do sports like that!

anyway, I’m still quite tired, but I’m having fun here!

Until soon!

Hello there…

wow.. this is the first time since…. more then a year that I can write about outdoor climbing again! Whohoeee..

So, since I didn’t went for a short holliday, I wanted to do something. My hopes where either on sailing or climbing, though climbing was more disirable. So, here I emailed some old blokes from climbing, which I didn’t see for one year as well, and that’s how it went. We: Jeroen, Heidi, Suan, Harry, Ian and I went to Berdorf. I’v been there 5/6 year ago (yes mensen: toen ik 16 was hahaha), but couldn’t really remember anything. The guy upstairs arranged some lovely weather and so the climbing conditions were great!

Since I didn’t climb such a long time outdoors, I didn’t feel really up to go as first and doing hard routes. It went great though: did some routes which I wouldn’t do indoors yet, but the shoulder cooped with it fine: only a little muscle pain and so on, which is normal.

It was a great weekend, specially with this lovely little fella : Heidi en Ian, which is THEY most lovely little one on the planet!

Anyways, next week I’ll be off to Kenia: to dear sister, then I will have loots of things to tell ya all!
